Join Meredith online for her new monthly series for transforming, uplifting, or healing problematic habits or behaviors and/or addictive or unhealthy patterns. This series incorporates elements of both twelve step recovery programs and Kundalini Yoga and meditation techniques.
Whether it be numbing physical or emotional pain through escapism or an altered physical state, addiction is an attempt to relieve sources of inner pain or unhappiness. Kundalini Yoga offers an alternative and effective way to create change in consciousness; instead of providing an escape, yoga empowers people through the ability to access a presence that re-integrates mind, body, and spirit.
Addictive and unhealthy behaviors cause disconnection from the body, and from one’s underlying physical sensation, feelings, and sense of intuition. Kundalini Yoga is a safe vehicle to reconnect to physical, corporeal sensation and develop and strengthen one’s healthy inner voice. Feelings of anxiety or stress may initially arise when one disengages from an addiction pattern. Kundalini yoga and mindful relaxation can help shift these triggering emotions and sensations into a calm, present, and grounded state. Kundalini yoga helps reduce and regulate stress hormones. It is a way to ground the body and create a connection between breath and movement, as well as strengthen the skills necessary to tolerate stressors, urges and cravings that can potentially lead to reengaging in problematic habits and/or additions.
Each session will include:
Breathwork
Kundalini Yoga
Meditation
Recovery Tools
